I am going to be honest and say that’s hard for me. I wish I could get past the four…if it was 14, I know I would have a very hard time sitting across from this woman and trying to be as pleasant as possible. I don’t think her problem is pregnancy or her problem is repeat abortions. But she has a problem. This is self-destructive behavior.” (Commenting on women who have repeat abortions)

Quote: "I want to go to school. Maybe it's selfish of me, I don't know. But if I go to school I can provide my child with a better life." Is why one patient told reporters she was having an abortion. A 21-year-old patient who did not want to give her name said she was getting an abortion because she has a 4-year-old child, is getting divorced and is on welfare.

Quote: ''I've done this (abortion) once and swore I wouldn't do it again.''(NOTE: this woman was having her second abortion when she stated this to a news reporter at the abortion clinic)

Quote: "I actually had an abortion during the first year of my internship. I just felt like I couldn't have a child and be a good parent when I would be working 100 hours a week for the next three years."

Quote: "I can think of one woman who I saw a couple of weeks ago. The whole time during the procedure, she talked about her two sons and all of their accomplishments and how wonderful they were. Clearly she was broken-hearted to be having this procedure. But her husband just could not accept having a third child..."

Quote: "What makes me angry is people who aren't being careful about birth control, who don't make an effort to get a birth control system in place for themselves and have had several abortions. But it's usually those people who also make me think, "Oh great! They're not having a child" -- even though I think it's an awful way to do your birth control.I firmly believe that I cannot use my own value judgments in deciding when it's right for a person to make this decision or not, however. Ultimately it really is the woman's decision and she is the person who has to carry all the consequences."

However, abortion as a means of birth control will be necessary in this country for a while to come, though I look forward to a time when it is not.”

Quote: A news reporter went indside an abortion clinic and interviewed abortion patients, they reported that - Kori, 26, who was having her third abortion, asked to watch the procedure on the ultrasound monitor. There was a woman in her late 20s who came in for her ninth abortion, with whom Todd had a long discussion about birth control."

Even though I had begun by being totally opposed to an abortion for this reason, she persuaded me that, in her mind, abortion was the only choice she could accept for this pregnancy for her own mental health as well as the welfare of her family.

The lesson from this anecdote is that we, as abortion-service providers, cannot place moral judgments on the motives or actions of out patients."
