Quote: "The ABA's position, adopted in 1992, endorses the basic outlines of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling that women may choose to have an abortion without state interference prior to the point at which a fetus could live outside the womb, and after that point if the woman's life or health were threatened by the pregnancy." They also support financing abortion for Indigent Women.

Quote: "I find it quite appalling that the A.C.L.U. is actively supporting this," ACLU board member, Wendy Kaminer told The New York Sun regarding the ACLU's support of legislation to regulate advertising done by counseling centers run by pro-life groups. The bill would stifle the free speech of Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRC's) and how they advertise. PRC's offer women free help during a crisis pregnancy. Kaminer is an ACLU board member and a public critic of some decisions made by the organization's leadership. Following her public dissent, the ACLU itself considered a proposal that some feel would stifle free speech within the ACLU's organization. "Where an individual director disagrees with a board position on matters of civil liberties policy, the director should refrain from publicly highlighting the fact of such disagreement," the committee that compiled the standards wrote in its proposals. "Directors should remember that there is always a material prospect that public airing of the disagreement will affect the A.C.L.U. adversely in terms of public support and fund-raising," the proposals state. Wendy Kaminer responded by saying, "If you disagree with a policy position, you are implicitly criticizing the judgment of whoever adopted the position, board or staff."

Quote: Termination of Pregnancy
1. The AMA respects the rights of doctors to hold differing views regarding termination of pregnancy.
2. Where the law permits termination of pregnancy, the procedure and the associated anesthesia should, as with any other medical intervention, be performed by appropriately trained medical practitioners, in premises approved by a recognized health standards authority.
3. Where the law permits termination of pregnancy, non-surgical forms of termination (such as RU486/mifepristone) should be made available as an alternative to surgical abortion in cases where they are medically deemed to be the safest and most appropriate option based on the appropriate clinical assessment.
4. It is the doctor's responsibility to provide patients with information regarding the potential health risks and psychological consequences, which can arise from continuation of and termination of pregnancy.

Quote: "Physicians should not feel or be compelled to require minors to involve their parents before deciding whether to undergo an abortion. The patient, even an adolescent, generally must decide whether, on balance, parental involvement is advisable. Accordingly, minors should ultimately be allowed to decide whether parental involvement is appropriate. Physicians should explain under what circumstances (eg, life-threatening emergency) the minor's confidentiality will need to be abrogated."

Quote: "The issue of support of or opposition to abortion is a matter for members of the AMA to decide individually, based on personal values or beliefs. Quote: "The AMA reaffirms existing policy that (1) abortion is a medical procedure and should be performed only by a duly licensed physician in conformance with standards of good medical practice and the laws of the state; and (2) no physician or other professional personnel shall be required to perform an act violative of good medical judgment or personally held moral principles. In these circumstances good medical practice requires only that the physician or other professional withdraw from the case so long as the withdrawal is consistent with good medical practice. The AMA further supports the position that the early termination of pregnancy is a medical matter between the patient and the physician, subject to the physician's clinical judgment, the patient's informed consent, and the availability of appropriate facilities. Quote: "The AMA does not have formal policy related to the Hippocratic Oath. Some of the tenets of the Oath represent long-standing ethical traditions that the AMA supports, while others are somewhat outdated." Here is a portion of the original oath now being removed by the AMA, "I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner I will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion."

Quote: "You are using medical skills in the participation of an execution," said Dr. Priscilla Ray, in regards to physicians participating in execution of prisoners. Ray is chairwoman of the AMA's council on ethical and judicial affairs. (NOTE: the AMA approves of doctors performing abortions).

Quote: The APA made this resolution in 1970: "WHEREAS, in many state legislature, bills have recently been introduced for the purpose of repealing or drastically modifying the existing criminal codes with respect to the termination of unwanted pregnancies; and whereas, termination of unwanted pregnancies is clearly a mental health and child welfare issue, and a legitimate concern of APA; be it resolved, that termination of pregnancy be considered a civil right of the pregnant woman, to be handled as other medical and surgical procedures in consultation with her physician, and to be considered legal if performed by a licensed physician in a licensed medical facility."

Quote: In 1992 the APA added this resolution: "Further, we direct the Chief Executive Officer of the American Psychological Association to activate the necessary mechanisms to ensure the accomplishments of the aims and goals of this resolution, including the capacity to respond to ongoing critical reproductive issues by participating in public information/media outreach efforts as necessary to help preserve a woman's right to choose."

Quote: In a recent e-mail, Amnesty sent out a survey request to its members, which stated, “AI is developing a policy statement and strategy regarding sexual and reproductive rights. We've created an online survey and background packet for Amnesty members, which are posted in the Members Section of the AIUSA website.” results of the survey have not been posted.

Quote: According to the AI website, "William F. Schulz Executive Director of Amnesty International USA has served on the boards of People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Communitarian Network and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, among others. Quote: AI has exposed many cases of forced abortion in countries such as China and for that they should be commended. They claim to be abortion neutral, but a closer look would indicate that a shift might be developing. Amnesty openly supports the Treaty for the Rights of Women (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women a/k/a/ CEDAW) While CEDAW does not mention the word "abortion," it explicitly obligates ratifying nations to ensure equal access to "health care services, including those related to family planning," and says that parties shall ensure that men and women have "the same rights to decide freely and responsibly on the number and spacing of their children."

Quote: In the publication “Planet” sponsored by Audubon, Planned Parenthood, and others, Audubon Society President, John Flicker is quoted as saying, “Human Population growth is the most pressing environmental problem facing the US and the World.” Also quoted is Dr. Norman Borlaug, father of the Green revolution, “The green revolution has won a temporary success in man’s war against hunger and deprivation; it has given man a breathing space…but the frightening power of human reproduction must also be curbed, otherwise the success of the Green Revolution will be ephemeral only.”

Quote: received $85,000 in 1999 in grant money and in following years, from The Wallace Global Fund * (read their philosophy under Wallace Fund): The Objective: Increase US government support, both financial and technical, to international population and reproductive health programs, Strengthen key grassroots constituencies in the United States, including environmental activists, population and family planning supporters, and communities of faith. They praised Audubon for: its “Support for Audubon's Population and Habitat Campaign, specifically the International Population and Family Planning's Senior Policy Associate. Audubon has developed an extensive network of educated and committed advocates who actively support increased funding for US international family planning and population assistance, and it is the Associate's role to coordinate the activities of the advocates and articulate the Program's policy priorities to members of Congress and their staff.”

Quote: Said this of International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF) after they donated millions of dollars to them: “IPPF/WHR advocates for the sexual and reproductive rights of the underserved in the Western Hemisphere region and believes that having access to family planning information and sexual and reproductive health services is a basic human right that contributes to the well-being of women, children and men throughout the world.” One Washington Planned Parenthood employee thanked the foundation after they contributed to their new building fund, "We are extremely grateful to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for their generous gift recognizing the importance of ensuring that all women and men have access to reproductive health care," said Gwen Chaplin, president/CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central Washington. "The foundation's support of the new Planned Parenthood center in Walla Walla demonstrates a strong commitment to programs that address the reproductive health needs of all ages…access to reproductive health care, voluntary family planning services, reproductive health information and services for adolescents aimed at reducing teenage pregnancies and preventing disease."

Quote: CAPS states that their main concern is immigration in the US, they focus on world-wide population control and give the following groups: Alan Guttmacher Institute, California Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (CARAL), National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL), Planned Parenthood, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California as “additional resources” on their website. Some of CAPS Board members include previous abortion rights activists: 1) Henry Mayer, MD,Executive-at-Large of (CAPS): he also serves on the board of directors of San Mateo County Planned Parenthood and is a member of Physicians for Choice. 2) Eddie Tabash, J.D., is also a Board Member of (CAPS): He is a practicing attorney and has been the most publicly active man in the pro-choice movement in California for over 20 years, making over 1,000 public presentations on behalf of California affiliates of the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League.

Quote: One of the Compton Foundation’s goals is “Making Emergency Contraception (EC) a widely accepted and available method of family planning in the U.S. and internationally.” To mainstream EC, the Foundation established a 6-year EC Initiative starting in 2002. They state, “We consider proposals that promote system-wide changes to make EC widely understood, affordable and available. This Initiative makes grants through an independent "request-for-proposal" process. “ In 2004 gave $30,000 to: Abortion Access Project, Inc. For a new Abortion Provider Training Initiative, a) $35,000 to Choice USA b) $40,000 to NARAL c) $20,000 to NAF d) $40,000 to various Planned Parenthood (abortion) Clinics.

Quote: Consumer Reports promotes Emergency Contraception and Plan-B abortion pills by referring consumers to Planned Parenthood in the Section entitled: "Help in emergencies”. They direct women to “Use the Internet”, and point to “Planned Parenthood at www.plannedparenthood.org, and the Princeton, N.J.-based Emergency Contraception Hotline at www.not-2-late.com” telling consumers that these groups list providers who will prescribe emergency contraception over the phone.Consumer reports does not warn women of the potential and serious risks of these pills.

Quote: Here is a portion of an article Consumer Reports ran promoting Abortion options: “Women having an abortion in the U.S. can choose one of two methods: the so-called abortion pill or a surgical procedure. Together, they account for some 850,000 legal abortions performed in the U.S. each year… Surgical abortion: Vacuum aspiration, also known as suction curettage, is the standard surgical abortion method in the U.S. for pregnancies in the first trimester, when 88 percent of legal abortions take place.”

Quote: A Texas Girl Scouts Group presented the "woman of distinction award " to Planned Parenthood of Central Texas executive director, Pam Smallwood. The Girl Scout organization has been giving its endorsement for years to a Planned Parenthood sex-education program in which girls and boys are given literature on homosexuality, masturbation and condoms. Ms. Kathy Cloninger (CEO, Girl Scouts of the USA) stated, “The Girl Scouts in Waco, Texas, really made a decision based on local community context, they decided that in this particular situation that it would be in the best interest of girls and their families to discontinue the relationship with Planned Parenthood."

Quote: "Girl Scouts is the largest voice for, and advocate for girls across the country. Know that girls grow up with very complex issues facing them. And so we do, across the country, tackle the issues of human sexuality and body image and all of the thing that's girls are facing. And we partner with many organizations. We have relationships with our church communities, with YWCAs, and with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, to bring information-based sex education programs to girls,” stated Ms. Kathy Cloninger (CEO, Girl Scouts of the USA)

Quote: In 1992, Ruth Whitney, editor-in-chief of Glamour said that despite the magazine's regular abortion coverage, she has "never heard a peep from advertisers." Whitney says Glamour, too, has always been pro-choice. "And for the most part, our readers are (pro-choice)," she says, citing Glamour surveys. Glamour published the article "Why I Risk My Life To Do Abortions." Glamour was a guest at the Planned Parenthood Conference: March of 2001, and recipient of the PPFA Maggie Awards, named after Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger.

Quote: These are comments made by an organization who oppose the LCV: “Outraged over the League of Conservation Voters' (LCV), support of "family planning organizations" including those that perform abortions, the African-American leadership group Project 21 is demanding that environmentalists stop endorsing policies that disproportionately harm people of color. "Environmental colonialism is here," says Project 21 Chairman Edmund Peterson. "The agenda of radical 'environmental' groups like the LCV is to promote abortion as a family planning method to dominate families -- often in nations located in continents like Africa and Asia -- and seize control of third world countries."

(1972) “The League supports: emphasis on preventive measures to avoid unwanted pregnancies, sex education in the schools and community, access to family planning information, services and devices to people who want them, wide distribution of information about contraception and sterilization, treating abortion as a medical procedure to be decided upon by a woman and her physician, public funding for birth control and abortion services for the poor, research on birth control methods.”

Quote: This is what their website states about Planned Parenthood: “The oldest and largest voluntary reproductive health care organization, Planned Parenthood is dedicated to the principle that every individual has the fundamental right to choose when or whether to have children, and believes in equal access to health care. Planned Parenthood further believes that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life, strong family relationships and population stability.” Lilith Fair also says they are, “ proud to be associated with all of the groups on the list and encourage all the Lilith Fair concert goers to stop by their websites before the tour and then to visit the booths in the village on the day of the concert.” In 1999 Lilith Fair barred organizers from “Feminists for Life” from setting up at their fairs, because of their pro-life views. In addition to Planned parenthood, the Feminist Women’s Health Centers ( an abortion chain clinic) was selected to have a booth at Lilth Fair at the Gorge at George, Washington where they gave away hundreds of speculums to women wanting to learn self-exam.

Quote: “MOD policy states that abortion is not the solution to the problem of birth defects. The MOD has long maintained its neutrality on the issue of abortion. All grantees and contractors regardless of their personal opinions are prohibited from using MOD funds for abortion research, to pay for abortions, or to give directive advice concerning abortions. Fetal tissue research does not violate this policy if applicable federal regulations are adhered to. A non-directive referral for counseling, if requested by a patient in the course of prenatal care, does not violate this policy. Violation of this policy constitutes grounds for immediate cancellation of a grant or termination of a cooperative agreement.”

Quote: " If a fetus has a birth defect that cannot be treated before birth, prenatal diagnosis may help parents prepare emotionally for the birth. Parents can discuss their options with genetic counselors as well as with their health care providers." March of dimes endorses the use of amniocentesis and other methods to check for birth defects. MOD has given grant money to pro-abortion groups such as Planned Parenthood.

Quote: NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) made these statements in their Health and Policies resolutions Report, “Whereas, the NAACP has supported equal access to family planning materials and information since 1968 and whereas today women of color see abortion at rates higher than their percentage in the population, and overwhelmingly describe themselves as pro-choice in public opinion surveys, and whereas, on April 25,2004 thousands of pro-choice supporters will gather in Washington, DC for the “March” to demonstrate their support for the right to choice, and whereas, a woman denied the right to control her own body is denied equal protection of the law…therefore be it resolved that the NCAAP adds its endorsement and support for the “March” and urges all who believe in equal rights to attend.”
